Director / Instructor
Tricia Burke
Through the course of her dance career, Tricia studied and instructed at many studios throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Colorado, gaining much knowledge and experience as a teacher of all ages and abilities.
Tricia attended Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA as a dance major. At NECC, she was President of the Still Point Dance Company, organizing performances and choreographing for the Dance Company and the Dance Club. While in school, Tricia spearheaded the Children's Summer Dance Program at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA. As the head of the program there, she organized the curriculum, class schedule, choreography and final culmination performance.
In 1998, Tricia realized her dreams of owning her own dance studio. That year, she founded Adagio Dance Academy and has since watched it grow into the successful studio that it is today. Tricia’s vision is to bring the joy of dance and love of music to all of her students, as well as instill in them confidence, poise, discipline and responsibility. She watches her students grow year after year and is incredibly proud of the well-rounded individuals and dancers that they become.
Tricia has recently been expanding her horizons, attending The Dance Teacher Summit working with top industry professionals both on the dance floor and also on the business side. She has become a member of the professional organization More Than Just Great Dancing, and is excited to take Adagio to the next level!
Assistant Director / Instructor
Julianna Chandler
Julianna began her Adagio dance career as a passionate dance student of Miss Trish, and has become a dedicated and much loved instructor here at Adagio. She is a graduate of Northern Essex as a dance major. While attending Northern Essex Julianna participated in the American College Dance Festival for 3 years, performing and learning with the best college dance programs throughout the country.
As a dancer, Julianna has trained extensively in all forms of dance. As a member of our competitive dance companies here at Adagio, Julianna has always been recognized at dance competitions, receiving overall high score awards and special recognition awards for artistic and technical excellence.
Miss Julz continues her dance education by taking classes in Boston as well as at dance conventions. She attends The Dance Teacher Summit for the opportunity to learn from top industry professionals such as Mia Michaels, Stacey Tookey and Denise Wall.
Julianna has had the opportunity to be a guest choreographer and guest artist in Northern Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker and Beauty and the Beast.
Julianna loves her work here at Adagio, from instilling the love of dance in her preschool students, to her enthusiastic recreational students, to her award winning company dancers.
Instructor
Kendra FERRo
Kendra has been dancing her whole life throughout New England. She was a competitive dancer and also performed with her studios at Disney World, Universal, and taken seminars with the Rockettes in New York City. She has spent several summers at the American Ballet Theater summer program.
Kendra is a graduate of Northern Essex Community College as a dance major where she was the president of the Dance Club. While at NECC, Kendra participated in American College Dance Festival, performing and learning with the best college dance programs throughout the country.
From there, Kendra began teaching here at Adagio, sharing her passion for dance with our students of all ages and levels including our competitive dance companies. Kendra's routines have always been recognized with high scores and Special Awards for her creative choreography.
Kendra has continued her dance education taking classes in Boston as well as attending The Dance Teacher Summit, learning from top industry professionals such as Mia Michaels, Stacey Tookey, Tessandra Chavez and more.
Instructor
Jenny flores
Jenny began dancing at the age of two in Topeka, KS at The Dance Factory. She was a member of their competition team and traveled all over the United States competing and learning from top teachers and choreographers at dance conventions. In addition to studio dance, Jenny was a member of her high school dance team and named Captain her senior year. Post high school Jenny earned a B.S. in Hospitality Management from Kansas State University. While there she was active in their dance department and a founding member of the Kansas State Tap Dance Ensemble. After graduation, Jenny moved to Colorado where she taught dance classes in a variety of styles in the Denver Metro area for nine years. During these years she also earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and worked with children in the public school setting for three years. Believing you’re never too old to stop being a student Jenny has continued to take classes, private lessons, and further her dance education including at Adagio in Miss Trish’s adult tap class the past two years. Jenny is very excited to join the Adagio faculty and for the opportunity to work with the wonderful students at Adagio.
Instructor
Janet Armstrong
Janet has studied with Boston Ballet, The Boston Conservatory and also many ballet masters including: David Howard, Joseph Giocobbi and Fred Knecht to name a few. She previously owned a school in the New England area for 18 years and since selling the business, has been sharing her extensive knowledge with students in the local area. Janet was invited and chosen on 2 occasions to dance in the Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Moscow in the former Soviet Union, Copenhagen, Denmark and Warsaw Poland as part of an International Dance Festival. She has also taught ballet workshops at DCTB Boston. Because of her technical training, many of her dancers have gone to win such titles as, Miss Dance, Jr.. Miss and Petite Miss with the New England Chapter of DMA. Her students have also won numerous titles, high scores and best technique awards at prestigious competitions such as ADA and IDC. She also has numerous students dancing on cruse ships, some of whom are dance captains, in national touring productions of White Christmas, Chorus Line, Moving Out as well as other regional theatre productions. One former student has just been hired as a Rockette in NYC.
